Gallagher helps lead Titans to 5 – 1 win over Bobcats to complete weekend sweep

Aidan Gallagher had a pair of goals and an assist to help lead the Titans to a 5 – 1 win over the visiting Bay State Bobcats to complete the weekend sweep of the teams.

It was win number 17 on the season so far this year, the most in the NA3HL Titans three-year history (they had 16 in 36 games during the inaugural season of 2020-21). The victory also puts them one point behind the last East Division playoff spot with a game in hand on the Long Beach Sharks.

Gallagher, who was called up to the NA3 team on Friday from the Titans 18U Elite team, open the scoring at 6:17 into the opening period to give the Titans a 1 – 0 lead.

Bay State’s Nikita Liberman scored his first goal of the season at 8:13 of the second period to knot the score at one.

Then it was all Titans scoring four unanswered goals to take control of the game.

Jacob Gray’s fifth goal of the season gave the Titans a 2 – 1 lead with 7:33 remaining in the second period.

Gallagher scored his second goal of the game just 2:02 into the final period to double the Titans lead. Payton Fobes made it 4 – 1 with 8:08 remaining in the game. It was Fobes’ eleventh goal of the season. Kurt Johnson scored his 13th goal of the season with four minutes left in the contest to make it 5 – 1 and close out the scoring.

Daniel Antal stopped stopped 25 of 26 shots in the win while Bay State’s Jacob King turned aside 25 of 31 in defeat. Click here for the complete box score.

The Titans have eight critical games remaining in the season. Their last home game will be on Wednesday at 12:30 against Danbury, and then next weekend they play a critical two-game series on the road against the team they are chasing in the standing – Long Beach.
