Fobes & Talorico score twice to lead Titans to 5 – 1 win over Bobcats

Payton Fobes and Ryan Talorico each had a pair of goals to lead the Titans to a 5 – 1 win over the visiting Bay State Bobcats in game one of this weekend’s two-game series.

The Titans scored four unanswered goals en route to their third straight victory. Fobes opened the scoring at 9:30 into the first period to give the Titans a 1 – 0 lead. He received assists from Talorico and George Hinds.

New Jersey doubled their lead Talorico scored his first of the game with 7:41 remaining in the opening period. Nick Trabb picked up his second assist of the season.

Tommy Atanacio picked up his first goal of the season at 4:32 into the middle stanza to make it 3 – 0. Kurt Johnson and Antonio Vidal each recorded their sixth assist of the season on the goal.

Talorico scored his team high twelfth goal (a powerplay goal) with fifty seconds remaining in the second period to make it 4 – 0 Titans. Roy Shaver picked up his second assist of the season.

Bay State’s Jason Melanson scored an unassisted goal with 7:20 remaining in the third to break Titans netminder Daniel Antal’s shutout bid to make it 4 – 1.

Fobes closed out the scoring when he lit the lamp with fifty-nine seconds remaining in the game to make it 5 – 1.

Antal picked up his third win of the season stopping 33 of 34 shots while Bay State’s Jacob Cooper and AJ King combined to turn aside 38 of 43. Click here for the complete box score.

The teams will meet again tonight at 7:00PM for game two of this two-game series at the Middletown Sports Complex.
