Kenna’s three points isn’t enough as Titans fall to Sharks 6 – 3

Ryan Kenna had two goals and an assist, but it wasn’t enough as the visiting New Jersey Titans fell to the Long Beach Sharks yesterday 6 – 3. It was the Sharks’ third straight win against the Red Buckets.

Long Beach’s Jake Weikel opened the scoring at 7:21 into the first period for his thirteenth goal of the season. Teito Ishigaki tied the game just three minutes later with assists from Alex Blaszak and Kenna.

The Sharks then scored three unanswered goals, the first coming off of the stick of Mikita Miadzvedzeu with 2:43 remaining in the opening period. Long Beach doubled their lead at 8:48 into the middle stanza when Christopher Barnard hit the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season. Miadzevdzeu scored his second goal of the game, and fifth of the season, with 6:43 remaining in the period to make it a 4 – 1 game.

Kenna scored his first goal of the game on the man advantage just 2:54 into the third period with assists from Jesse Dickinson and Ishigaki. It was Kenna’s fifth goal of the season.

Long Beach scored two goals within six seconds of each other to put the game out of reach. Tyler Zembrzycki scored his tenth of the season at 6:47 into the final period to make it 4 – 2 but six seconds later Max Rotsaert made it 6 – 2.

Kenna scored his second powerplay goal of the game midway through the third to close out the scoring and make it 6 – 3.

Colin Freitas stopped 46 of 52 shots while Long Beach’s Justin Bender turned aside 16 of 19 shots. Click here for the box score.

The Titans will be home this Saturday and Sunday to face the undefeated Northeast Generals.
