Second period dooms Titans in 7 – 1 loss to Sharks

The Long Beach Sharks scored five, second period goals en route to a 7 – 1 win over the visiting Titans earlier today. The Sharks’ Tyler Zembrzycki had a hat trick.

After a scoreless first period, Zembrzycki scored his twelfth goal of the season at 1:06 into the middle stanza to make it a 1 – 0 game. At 6:09 of the second, the Sharks’ Jake Weikel doubled Long Branch’s lead.

The Titans cut the Sharks lead in half at 7:50 into the second period on Jace Koenigsmark’s first career junior goal. Long Beach regained their two-goal lead with 9:16 remaining in the middle stanza. Zambrzycki scored his second goal of the game with 5:09 left to make it 4 – 1. Ryo Yamamoto gave the Sharks a 5 – 1 lead with fifty-seven seconds remaining in the period.

Long Beach’s Max Rotsaert’s fifth goal of the season made it 6 – 1 with 6:48 left in the game. Zembrzycki scored his third goal of the game three minutes later to close out the scoring.

Donovan Alfama and Tyrus Pratley combined to stop 33 of 40 shots in defeat while the Sharks’ Ryo Murakami turned aside 10 of 11. Click here for the box score.
