Titans fall to Sea Captains 2 – 1 in OT

Norwich’s Jack Kinahan scored with fifty-four seconds remaining in overtime to give the Sea Captains a 2 – 1 win over the visiting Titans in game one of this end-of-regular season two-game series.

Despite the loss, the Titans were able to procure a point towards the last East Division playoff spot.

After a scoreless first period, Norwich’s Tony Morran scored his twenty-second goal of the season at 6:33 into the middle stanza to give the Sea Captains a 1 – 0 lead.

With 3:38 remaining in the second, the Sea Captains’ Erik Masengill was called for tripping to give the Red Buckets the man advantage. Thirty-six seconds later George Hinds scored his sixteenth goal of the season to knot the game at one.

After regulation ended tied at one, it went into the five minute overtime. Kinahan picked up the loose puck in the Titans crease and tapped it into the back of the net to end the game.

Daniel Antal stopped 37 of 38 shots while Norwich’s Andrew Yocum turned aside seven of eight. Click here for the complex box score.

The regular season ends tomorrow for the Titans and they are in need of a win and hope that Long Beach loses one of two games to the Bay State Bobcats to secure the fourth and final East Division playoff spot.
